Christine Foote-Lucero
MSN, RN, CEN, SANE-A, SANE-P, AFN-C, DF-AFN
My name is Christine Foote-Lucero and I have been a registered nurse for 23 years, with 20 of those years in a leadership role. I have practiced forensic healthcare since 2010 and I received my Masters of Science in Forensic Nursing in 2019. I hold four board certifications, including Certified Emergency Nurse, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for Adults/Adolescents, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for Pediatrics, and Advanced Forensic Nurse. I have been on the AFN Board of Directors for 6 years, currently chair the AFN Journal Club, and am a member of numerous AFN committees. I have been a dedicated member of AFN during these past years by also contributing to multiple publications in our AFN Journal as well as co-authorship of our AFN Non-Fatal Strangulation position statement, presenter/speaker at multiple AFN conferences and webinars, and creator of an AFN podcast. I was also recently honored with AFN Distinguished Fellow, which is a lifetime achievement award. During my tenure with AFN, I have actively participated in shaping the organization’s strategic direction and advocating for the interests of not only our members, but also the forensic nursing profession itself. I am currently the Nurse Manager of a comprehensive forensic program in the Denver metro area, one of the busiest programs in the state of Colorado seeing upwards of 300 patients a month. My clinical experiences have included death investigation, correctional nursing, and care for living patients affected by violence, including human trafficking, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, elder abuse, child abuse, strangulation, vehicular assault, and physical assault. At this time in my career, I feel I am ready to take the next step toward an AFN Executive Board member position and am excited to run for treasurer. My vision for AFN is that we are and should continue to be the professional organization of choice for all people interested in, and/or currently working in, the arena of forensic healthcare. My goals are that AFN remain competitive, engage in sound business practices, and are able to provide value-added programs, education, and services to all members. I seek to leverage my leadership skills, passion, integrity, and clinical experiences to drive the organization’s excellence, promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and integrity, and enhance operational efficiency. I am committed to fostering collaboration and accountability among the Executive Board and working toward advancing AFN’s objectives to ensure a meaningful impact and continued success as an organization.
