My name is Antoinette Janson. I am a dedicated forensic nurse with experience in clinical practice, education, and leadership. As the Assistant Director of Texas A&M Health Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing, I oversee innovative programs, including mobile forensic simulations, Community of Practice meetings, and the Forensic Interviewing Program for Adults. My work focuses on advancing trauma-informed care, improving documentation practices, and mentoring future forensic nursing professionals to provide the highest standards of care and legal integrity.

I am passionate about enhancing documentation practices, particularly in narrative, general appearance, and demeanor, to increase accuracy and improve outcomes for both patients and legal systems. I bring a unique perspective to the Academy of Forensic Nursing, drawing on my hands-on expertise, academic background, and commitment to fostering collaboration within forensic nursing communities.

If elected to the Board of Directors for the Academy of Forensic Nursing, I will work to advance forensic nursing through education, community building, and innovation. My goals include:

  1. Developing professional growth opportunities for novice forensic nurses, emphasizing culturally responsive and legally sound documentation practices.

  2. Increasing access to resources that address the needs of rural and underserved communities.

  3. Expanding the Community of Practice model to encourage collaboration, mentorship, and the exchange of best practices across forensic nursing specialties.

By contributing my skills and experiences, I hope to support the Academy’s mission and ensure forensic nurses have the tools they need to provide compassionate, effective, and legally precise care.
