Kasey Magness

Kasey Magness has been the Forensic Nurse Administrator for the Tulsa Police Department since 2022. She worked as a paramedic between 2008–2010, when she graduated from Rogers State University as a Registered Nurse in 2010. Kasey began her nursing career in the Trauma Emergency Center at Saint Francis and worked on many committees and as a Charge Nurse. In 2014, she realized her love for Forensic Nursing and began working as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and taking care of children and adults. In 2018, she earned her master’s in nursing in Healthcare Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
She is passionate about expanding Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) programs across Oklahoma. As a federal grant recipient, she is currently working on creating and supporting programs to help sexual assault patients have access to exams without extensive traveling. In addition, she is currently a member of the Oklahoma Nurse Association. She is a Member at Large, the American Nurse Association, the Academy of Forensic Nursing, and the International Forensic Nurse Association. The Governor of Oklahoma appointed her to serve a two-year term on the Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence Task Force. Currently, she is working with a group of Forensic Nurses to start an Oklahoma Forensic Nurse Association. She was honored in 2015 with the Nursing Excellence Award for her contributions as a Community Health Nurse at Saint Francis Health Systems. She works with legislators to bring Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence barriers to light through participation in interim studies and providing ideas to retain forensic nurses in Oklahoma. She is passionate about bringing collaborative practice to serve patients and forensic professionals better.
