I am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner looking for insight from this community. In my state, I find myself more often practicing below my scope of practice in the role of a pediatric adolescents SANE, which I absolutely love, but it seems like a greater opportunity is being missed when so few child abuse pediatricians exist to serve the amount of patients requiring referral. I see that pediatricians can certify and specialize specifically as child abuse pediatricians, but am I missing where APRNs have similar pathways of specialty and certification? APRNs are known to bridge gaps and serve unmet needs in communities. Help your fellow APRN who is at this crossroad and direct me to the best route to further specialize myself and meet the needs of kiddos in IL!

Emily, Great questions. I hope the NP can assist with this but I am surprised that the MD has taken you along. Do they cover call at night and come in?
