Trauma, defined in the broadest aspect is an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life-threatening and has lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning. Such traumas can occur in the context of individual, interpersonal or structural experiences.
Trauma-informed care (TIC) is frequently referenced, yet there is much variability in how applied and there is little evidence to support the added benefits. This session will provide a framework of applying TIC from a leadership and staff perspective.
Geared toward forensic nurses, advanced practice providers, and emergency department/healthcare providers.
Don't miss your opportunity to:
- Broadly define trauma and its impact on health and wellness.
- Provide approaches to building resilience using trauma-informed approaches.
- Discuss the implication of data obtained from nurses that were deployed during the COVID pandemic.
