Dr. Heather J. Head is the Executive Director of the Edmondson Telford Center for Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs of child abuse victims serving Hall and Dawson counties in northeast Georgia. With over two decades of experience in nursing and leading a child advocacy center (CAC), Head is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, with additional board certification in Advanced Forensic Nursing with the Forensic Nursing Certification Board. Her work at the CAC focuses on providing expert pediatric forensic medical care, conducting detailed forensic medical examinations, and providing testimony on child maltreatment cases. In her CAC role, Head leads a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that every child receives compassionate and comprehensive care. Since opening in 1997, her leadership at the Edmondson Telford Center for Children extends to developing and implementing programs that enhance both the child advocacy center services and forensic services provided to child victims. She is a staunch advocate for policies and practices that protect children, prevent abuse, and provide survivors with the resources they need for recovery. In addition to her leadership role at the CAC, Head serves as a pediatric forensic nurse across the northeast Georgia region. She is recognized for her expertise in forensic examinations related to sexual and physical assault, child molestation, and other forms of violence. Her work not only involves direct care but also extends to published research, training healthcare professionals, conducting community outreach, and providing expert testimony in legal cases.
