MSN, RN, SANE-A

Kristin Beers

Kristin Beers earned her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) in 1988 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2011 from Midway University, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Eastern Kentucky University in 2016. She has been credentialed as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) for Adolescents and Adults since 2017 and completed her didactic training to become a Pediatric SANE in 2024. With over 35 years of nursing experience, Beers has developed a strong background in orthopedics, neurosciences, pediatrics, case management, home infusion, and utilization review. These diverse specialties have prepared her for the roles she is most passionate about: school nursing and serving as a SANE for adolescents and adults. Before becoming a SANE, Beers worked as a medical advocate for a local rape crisis center (RCC), where she collaborated with members of her regional Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Drawing from her experiences as a student, advocate, educator, and SANE, Beers has developed presentations exploring the intersection of healthcare, forensics, and the social-emotional healing process following trauma. She believes the SANE clinic is where healing begins. Beers is actively involved in leadership roles within nursing special interest groups (SIGs), including the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) Private, Independent, and Parochial School Nurses (PIPSN) and the Academy of Forensic Nursing (AFN) School Nurses group. She is also a member of the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN). In 2021, Beers was honored with the NASN Outstanding PIPSN Award.
